Getting Back in the Groove

Hey, how's it going?

First and foremost I'd like to welcome you to my new website and my first blog/article! I decided to revamp my website once again because the old one felt a little outdated and disorganized. Anyhow, here's what I've been up to:

This last year and a half I've been focusing a lot of my time at my new job. First working seasonal contract and now working full time. While I am grateful to have a decently alright job, it definitely has created an obstacle for putting aside time to make some new artwork. During my part-time seasonal period, I worked on a personal project called "Megaman Legends: Untold Histories." This project was done while taking my class with my amazing teacher Scott Zenteno. After taking the class I transitioned into being a full time employee and this really put a halt on my creativity due to mental exhaustion (I work a lot with customer lol). After work my brain would be completely fried and I didn't feel like working on anything. I would still continue to sketch in my sketchbooks but I never had the energy to sit down for hours working on designs or a full illustration. I realized that my stress was becoming a problem but I wasn't doing anything to combat it.

In late May I went on a vacation with my lovely fiancee to Oahu, Hawaii. In the 4 days that we spent there, we were able to do A LOT. Not only that, but I also unexpectedly came across artwork that I really enjoyed in some local shops and these works made me feel inspired. I realized how much could be done in a day and I told myself that I've been putting my efforts in the wrong places. After my vacation, I started sketching more and coming up with some projects I could work on. Outside of creating some artwork I also started redesigning my apartment with my fiancee to make it feel more like home and slowly but surely planning our wedding that we've been putting off for so long. I also spent a few weeks designing this website and gathering a lot of my artwork to organize them into projects to showcase them in a way that makes more sense (still working on scanning some sketchbook pages).

All in all I'm doing my best to spend time doing things I'd like to do. With this blog I'd like to do some reviews on materials I enjoy using, talking about my travels, and whatever else comes to mind. I'm currently looking to transition into a hybrid/work from home job so hopefully this will open up more time for me to make more art, articles, and maybe even bring my YouTube channel back to life. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I promise I'll create posts that are more informative or helpful to your creative journey!
